Spring Break at Jani's farm

You might have noticed that I haven't posted any pictures of the kid's birthday parties this year. That's because they didn't get any!! After the past few years of party insanity, I decided that I would do a party for each of them every other year - in the same year - and on the off year we would take a big family "Birthday Trip" instead. Genius! So for the first bi-annual Birthday Trip we took a week long trip to Frankston, Texas - home of the Jeane family farm (aka, Bryan's sister Jani's farm!!). Now some might not consider that a trip to a farm in Texas would be of large enough proportion for kids would be willing to trade their parties, but they would be wrong. Kids on a farm??? Playing in mud??? Feeding farm animals??? Staying in a cool cabin??? They were in heaven!! Bryan's sister Jani is amazing. She decided a couple years ago that she didn't want to raise her girls in the city (they were living in Houston at the time) and so she and her husband Kyle bought several acres and a small little farm house up in Frankston, Texas. A tiny, tiny little town. Since then, she has moved up there, fixed up the house, and bought animals!! At the time of our trip they had 4 goats, 4 pigs, 4 cows, 11 chickens, 1 rooster, 2 dogs, and 1 cat. And since Jani's husband still lives in Houston during the week, running their AC business, Jani runs that farm solo! Not only does she do all the farm chores, but she's also taught herself to make cheese, yogurt, she grows and cans her own vegetables, and she even slaughters her own chickens for meat! Amazing! But anyway, here are the pictures from our trip. We had a great time, and can't wait to go back!

The cabins that we stayed at - BBQing and s'more making

Fishing with Uncle Kyle. They caught enough for an awesome fish fry that night!

Lots of fun at the farm...picking flowers, feeding the animals, doing some farm chores, and getting really really dirty!
