Our Thanksgiving Trip

We had an amazing Thanksgiving trip this year, and I loved every minute of it.  We began the week by doing some State Park hopping, which led us from San Antonio east.  Our first stop was at Bastrop State Park, and it was a beautiful place, although ravaged by recent fires.  We hiked and ate, which was pretty much the trend for the first half of the week.  The next day we left for Caddo Lake State Park, which is right on the border of Texas and Louisiana.  This was an awesome looking place!!  So unique and different from most Texas State Parks.  We canoed through the bayou, and although we didn't spot any alligators, the girls were pretty sure they saw alligator bubbles.  After a breakfast mishap with the brown-paper-bag omelettes (oops!), we headed toward Dallas and Cooper Lake State Park.  Our cabin was right on the lake, which was very beautiful, but it also rained the entire time we were there.  Indoor s'mores that night!  The kids were up and moving quick the next day, because we were headed for The Great Wolf Lodge!  We spent the next two days, which included Thanksgiving, there, and boy was it nice relaxing in the hot tub just an hour before our Thanksgiving dinner reservation.  It was hard to complain!  It is always a favorite spot of the kids, so I'm glad we were able to squeeze it in for Spencer's last Thanksgiving.  (OK, just for two years.)  Anyway, we decided to spend the last two days of our trip up in Dallas, and we went to see the Christmas lights at the Arboretum, the Cowboys stadium, and then spent a day at the Stockyards in Fort Worth.  What an awesome and memorable Texas Thanksgiving!!
