Father's Day Weekend

We had a visit from Bryan's sister and kids over Father's Day weekend, and the girls had a great time running around with their cousins.  Evidently I'd established a "tradition" by letting the girls decorate animal cupcakes the last time they came, and thankfully I was given a heads up that they were expecting to do it again this year!  I guess it's a tradition now!  On Sunday, the kids really nailed it Father's Day.  They each spent time during the week writing a page about why their dad is the best, and they presented them to Bryan that night.  Poor Bryan had been nursing an injured back/arm, and therefore not sleeping well, and so he was a wreck reading these very sweet notes.  Way to go kids...bringing your dad to tears on Father's Day is a sure sign of success!  We love you Daddy!!

Dance Recitals

Ella and Ruby had their dance recital the first weekend of June, and they were the two most beautiful girls.  They did such a wonderful job, and had such fun getting their hair - and especially make-up! - done, and we loved watching them dance.  We took hundreds of pictures of them, going an hour before their shows to have plenty of time for pictures outside, and I am just sick that the gorgeous pictures we took of the girls before their shows did not upload properly onto our computer.  They're gone.  I'm thankful we still have these darling ones from our backyard, but I am still mourning the loss of the others.  Ella and Ruby, we are so proud of you and your amazing performances!!! 

A family who plays together...

I am so happy that we love spending time together!  We really have fun.  Of course there are busy times, frustrating times, and many downright stressful times, but we do our best to squeeze as much fun as we can into the free time we have.  We love to hike and camp together, spend time at Six Flags and on the boat together, and even when it's time to work we do it together.  These are a few pictures from our hike at Pedernales Falls, the gorgeous Texas Bluebonnets, and a little yard work at our house and at a neighbor's house.  We took an evening trip to Six Flags and got soaked to the bone on the Gully Washer.  Bryan told the kids, "Just watch...mom is going to get soaked!" And I did!  The kids just laughed and laughed as every wave and waterfall went directly on my head (and then onto theirs).  Bryan and I went to the B-course graduation, the kids enjoyed their last days of school, and we sneaked away for a fun family camping trip at South Llano National Park.  The most eventful part of that camping trip was the 6 foot long (according to the boys description) yellow and black snake that slithered by Spencer's foot at breakfast!  It was too fast to get a picture of, but the Park Ranger came by with a rattlesnake that was found the weekend prior.  Yikes!  We managed to squeeze 6 large tubes into our car (along with our giant family!) and drove down to road to tube the river after breakfast.  It was so relaxing and enjoyable, I almost forgot about that snake!  We were also able to take the boat out of its winter storage and enjoy some beautiful "Guard Mondays" up at Canyon Lake.  Life is good!!
