Bryan's 40th Seinfeld Party!

Bryan and I are huge Seinfeld fans.  We have watched it together since our second date.  We always joke that it's difficult for us to be friends with people who don't watch Seinfeld because they don't get any of our jokes!  And if they don't LIKE Seinfeld??  Yeah, it's over.  Anyway, with Bryan's 40th birthday coming up, I could think of no greater theme for a party than Seinfeld.  I can tell you that I had more fun planning this party.  In fact, it was a major topic of discussion during the entire week of our family reunion in St. George.  The entire family was giving suggestions for food ideas, activities, and signs.  Brian Evans won our vote for best sign idea - "In order to save time, all food was prepared in the shower."  We laughed so hard at that one!  Since I was out of town the entire week before the party, arriving home in the wee morning hours on party day, I was very grateful for good friends who offered to help with the food and party signs.  It all came together in the end, and the party was a big hit!  For all of our friends who are fans of the show, they got all of the inside jokes and enjoyed the Seinfeld trivia game that we played.  One couple brought a Festivus pole (awesome!), and another couple showed up with Pepsi and Ring Dings.  The party favors that we gave out were awesome - Beefarino, Vegetable Lasagna, Lobster Bisque, Ovaltine, H&H Bagels, Drake's Coffee Cakes, Junior Mints, Snickers (eat with a knife and fork), and a pudding selection for a Pudding Singles venture.  You can see all of the food items in the pictures - they were the most fun to plan.  For those guests who didn't know Seinfeld very well...I'm sure it was a super lame party.  But for the rest of us???  It was awesome!!

Day 5 - Thanksgiving Day

Thursday (&Friday) - Thanksgiving Day....the one day we hadn't planned much but to just hang out, eat turkey together, and maybe play some games.  My grandma had reserved her church building for us to eat in and had ordered all the food from a place there.  It was awesome!  No one had to spend all day cooking and cleaning!!  The food was good, and instead of the women working all day, we got to just hang out!  I had planned a few "Minute to Win It" type games for after dinner, and then the morning of we decided to put together a family bingo game.  I'm pretty sure Stephanie, Blake, and I had more fun making the game than we did actually playing it, but it was still a hit.  We used our inside knowledge to come up with some pretty hilarious clues.....oldest, baldest, birthed the most children, most car accidents, dropped sunglasses into a porta potty, ever caught stealing a car, most weddings, carries phone in a silky bag, most tattoo coverage, most skin grafts, etc.......you get the idea.  Hilarious! :)  Luckily, everyone is a good sport!  So after we ate, we cleared out the tables and played some games.  It was fun! My Aunt Susan's husband Jerry is a paramedic and had to work, but he got to stop by to eat and brought his ambulance over to give the kids a tour.  They loved it.  And we got to have a little more fun with Flat Masen.
Then came time for some family pictures!  We had almost the whole family!  With Flat Masen there, we were only missing my cousin Tye, his wife Kaeli, and my other cousin Gray.  So we forced everyone to pose for some pics.
After that, we headed over to my grandma and grandpa's house to do an "early Christmas!"  Since they weren't going to be with most of us on Christmas, they thought it would be fun to get to see the kids open their gifts.  It was fun.  Chaotic, but fun.  Then an impromptu talent show started up.  Spencer had really been wanting to share the new rap he'd learned.....Eminem's Lose Yourself.  So lots of people got in on the fun......we saw/heard a couple raps, some crazy dancing, magic tricks, funny faces, singing, headstands, etc.  Good way to end the trip!!
Friday - we headed home!  Another late flight, with hours spent at the LAX USO.  When we arrived home at 1:00am, and me with a raging cold (brought down from Idaho, exacerbated by lack of sleep), we were happy to hit the sack.

I have to say that it was a great week!!  I love my big, crazy, fun family and I'm so glad that everybody was able to fit this week into their schedules.  I loved spending time with all of them!
