Spencer's Spring

This group of pictures of Spencer are all over the place!  They start off with a real low (for him!) at a freezing cold campout before the weather warmed up.  He swore he would never camp in the wintertime again after this night!  Next we've got a few odds and ends of Spencer - getting his hair styled by his sisters, and longboarding around the neighborhood.  For Spencer, this Spring consisted of lots and lots of music!  I took some great videos of him singing in his voice recital and at the Spring Pop Show, but sadly no pictures.  So just trust me - he did awesome!  He's continued to be very actively involved in his high school choir, and the two of us went to his choir banquet together.  It was a really fun night, and I'm so glad that we went because he ended up winning one of the "superlatives" of the night.  He was awarded Mr. Legato, which means Mr. Laid Back.  He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing, but we've assured him that it's a great quality to have.  We've even taken to pointing out all of the "Mr. Legato" things that he does on a daily basis.  The other thing that Spencer did this Spring was take lessons from and perform with School of Rock.  He took piano lessons (keyboarding) and he also sang.  It was fun to go see him perform!  He really liked many aspects of School of Rock, but ultimately decided that he really wanted to spend his time and energy on the school choir.  Which leads me to the last two pictures! As an incoming sophomore, Spencer was able to audition for the two elite varsity choirs that his high school offers.  Of course most students in these choirs are seniors, but an occasional sophomore or junior make them.  So he decided to try out for both.  Why not, right?  What does it hurt?  The first audition was for Soundsations, which is the show choir.  They sing and dance and perform all over San Antonio.  They travel to schools, festivals, and many other events.  And they are good!  And really quite cool.  The second choir he auditioned for is called Chamber Singers.  This choir is more technical, and will compete in singing competitions throughout the state.  Well, it was a long wait for the results!  Finally, the day before school was let out for the year, the results were posted.  And would you believe that Spencer made BOTH choirs????  As a sophomore!  I'm still beside myself with excitement for him, and so happy to think of all the fun he will have in these choirs.  Hurray for Spencer!!
