Easter 2014
We spent Easter up at the lake again this year, and we had a great time coloring eggs, emptying Easter baskets, and hunting for eggs. The kids all looked great for church, and we had a yummy dinner and cake that afternoon. Here are a few pictures of the fun!

Spencer's 15th birthday
Happy Birthday Spencer! Spencer has turned 15 years old, and he is nearing the end of his freshman year of high school. He's gearing up to start drivers ed, and he should be driving with a learners permit by summer. That's a scary thought! We divided Spencer's birthday celebration into two different days, since his birthday landed on a busy Monday. We had his birthday dinner (steak, baked potatoes, artichokes, and chocolate milk) on Sunday night, then finished up with cake and presents on Monday night. Just before Spencer headed to bed on Sunday night we had a knock on the door. There was nobody there when we answered it, but we discovered a jar of cookies and cute "Happy Birthday Spencer" signs out in the yard. So fun!! We still don't know who delivered this gift (the suspense is just killing Spencer!), but it made for a very happy boy. :) On Monday morning, as is tradition, Spencer wanted to take treats to his seminary class for his birthday. We opted for cinnamon rolls, and I think they were a big hit. As for Spencer's presents this year, he was first gifted with an adorable homemade pillow that Ella sewed for him. She did it 100% on her own, without me even knowing what she was working on! Pretty sweet. And Ruby, not to be outdone, spent days and days compiling gift bags of pictures and cards and stories and books, all drawn and written by her. She even had a treasure hunt made for him that led to Mickey and Minnie holding granola bars for him! So darling. Tyler went with the re-gift of the same piece of candy that Spencer dug out of the candy stash for his birthday. They thought it was a riot. Spencer's other presents included a Taylor Swift calendar (his current love), and a longboard. As long as he doesn't crack his head open riding that thing! We finished off the night with a pretty amazing chocolate peanut butter cake, and it was a fun couple of days celebrating Spencer. Happy Birthday, Machine!!

Ruby's 6th Birthday
Cute little Ruby has turned 6. She was so excited for her big day, and she loved opening her presents on her throne and having her cake. She requested a Frozen cake this year, so I had a fun time coming up with a cute idea for the cake. She was thrilled with the way it turned out! And the surprise inside-of-the-cake was ice cream, so it was actually a "frozen" Frozen cake. Ruby got a variety of odds and ends for her birthday, like the Frozen movie, Anna and Elsa dolls, and of course some One Direction stuff. She also got her first real American Girl doll, Isabelle. She was pretty excited about her! It was a really fun day, and just so hard to believe that our baby girl is 6 years old already. Where has the time gone??
