We decided that we hadn't spent nearly enough time in the sun this trip, so we spent the morning and early afternoon lounging by the pool. And what a gorgeous pool it was! The water was a little cold for my taste, but I had no qualms about just enjoying the sunshine and relaxing. We got cleaned up in the afternoon, and had an early dinner at El Verde BBQ near the resort. All of this was in preparation for our night kayaking tour, which was set to depart from Fajardo around sundown. The goal of this night kayaking tour was to arrive at the bioluminescent bay when it was completely dark. Once there, we got to see the mysterious phenomenon of the "glowing water." It was pretty cool to see the sparkles of light that surrounded and followed your hand and oar in the water. The actual kayaking itself was the best part, I thought. We kayaked through a canal that was completely covered my mangrove trees, and on the way to the bay we could see all of our surroundings. On the way back, it was so dark that you just followed the glowstick on the kayak in front of you. It was really fun! After working up quite an appetite, we stopped off at my beloved Taco Maker for some late night tacos and crustos. Just like I grew up with!
