Puerto Rico!!

Last summer I did something crazy and bid on a trip to Puerto Rico at a neighborhood auction.  It just sounded so amazing, and it was such a great deal!  My friend Heather joined in the bidding with me, once my original bid was overtaken, and the two of us ended up winning (buying) the week long trip.  Hurray!  So after months of planning, waiting, and anticipating, the day finally arrived.  The night before we were to fly out of town, the weather forecast kept getting worse and worse.  Major roads and bridges were closed, schools were put on alert, and sadly, flights were canceled.  Including ours!  So after hours on the phone with the airlines, we finally accepted the fact that we would be spending Day 1 of our Puerto Rican vacation in San Antonio - in what we now refer to as "The Great Ice Storm of 2014."  It was actually OK, since the kids did get a day off school, and we were able to spend some more time with my mom.  And lucky for us, the girls opened up their famous "Lounge Time" and treated us to massages and snacks of almonds and cherry tomatoes.  That evening we said goodbye to the kids and left to spend the night down by the airport, to begin our trip.   For real this time!
