Snow!!!

After Mary's wedding, the whole family drove up to Idaho for Thanksgiving. Since we left 80 degree temps back home, we were really hoping to spend some good quality time playing in the snow while we were there! In fact, we packed two entire bags full of snow gear up from Texas so that we would be prepared. Last year at Thanksgiving, they had a ton of snow. This year...none! No ski resorts were open within a 200 mile radius. But we were not deterred! We called restaurants and gas stations all over Idaho, asking them if they had snow on the ground. Everybody said no. Just as we were about to admit defeat, my wise sister Stephanie encouraged us to at least drive up the mountain toward and ski resort, thinking that it wouldn't take much snow to please a bunch of folks from down south. And she was right!! We were laughing at ourselves for the first 45 minutes of our drive up the snow-less mountain, and then we started to see little specks of white. Then a little more. Then...enough!! We found a hill with enough snow for sledding, and we spent the next 3 hours having an absolute blast! The kids just played and played, and we are so glad that we packed that gear and went for it. Hot chocolate and cookies rounded out the day, and we all drove home happy. Hurray for snow!!
