Galveston
Another Labor Day, another trip to Galveston!! This year we had to come up with a few new things to do, since it was really windy and rainy the weekend we were there. (A shocker, since it was the first rain in three months!) On our "beach day," it wasn't raining, but it was really really windy. Ruby never even left the comfort of her beach towel shelter (she even fell asleep for a few minutes in there)! She was actually recovering from a little stomach flu, so she really didn't feel up to braving the elements on the beach that day. The rest of the kids all had fun digging in the sand, and the boys used their boogie boards as sled to slide down huge sand piles. Oh the sand!!! The only bad thing about the beach. And they were covered! The girls were so exhausted by the day at the beach that they both went back to the beach house and crashed! We made our nightly trek to the candy shop, where we were lucky enough to watch them make salt water taffy, and we had some great homemade ice cream. Yum! The next day we went on a ferry ride, which was really fun. The boys went to the front of the ferry, where they were soaked!! We hung out by the water and watched the fishermen there try to catch some fish. We saw a few big ones get reeled in! After a trip to the Rainforest Cafe we called it a day. The next morning, which was the day we had to drive home, was absolutely gorgeous. So we took advantage of the nice weather and we rented a giant bike that we pedaled along the boardwalk. Always a fun trip, and this was no exception! Until next year!!!
