Fall has got to be the busiest time of the year. December and May are close seconds, but I really feel like the Fall is the craziest for us. The beginning of the school year is always so stressful, with all the homework and projects, and then the kids activities start going full force. We managed to squeeze in some fun, too, and I think we might have survived! Here is a brief run-down of our first couple of months.
#1. My birthday! The girls had the entire house decorated, and a full script and agenda for the evenings activities. Bryan made a delicious dinner and an awesome pie for dessert. A great day!
#2. Concerts! Ella and Ruby each sang at their school leadership night, and Tyler and Spencer each had their Fall concerts. It was Spencer's first time singing and dancing with Soundsations!
#3. Football! Tyler played his first season of football for his school team. He made the A team, which was very exciting, although he wished he'd have gotten some more playing time. It was a fun season to watch!
#4. Garage Sale! After years of begging, I finally relented and allowed the girls to have a garage sale. We worked for days to prepare, cleaning and organizing the toys, and then up early to set up. We made a total of $32.50 after about 5 hours of selling. This will not be happening again! The two good things that came out of it were that the kids donated the money to our neighbor, who needs a new lung and heart, and Spencer bought a sweet Santa suit. He passed out Fiber One bars the very confused neighbor children walking by.
#5. School projects! It just wouldn't be school without some good "Family Fun Projects" from the kids schools! And when they're not getting real homework, Ella and Ruby have been playing school upstairs and Ella has been making math packets! Cute girls.
#6. Camping! We actually snuck away for two days and went camping by the Frio River. We rented a big 26 foot trailer, and we had such a fun weekend (despite the blown tire on the drive there!). It was so gorgeous, and the weather was nice enough for the kids to rope swing right into the river.
#7. Fall Treats! We made our pumpkin donuts and gourmet caramel apples. Yum!
#8. Pirate Day! The day before Halloween, Ella had Pirate Day for the entire 4th grade. Thankfully we had the old pirate costume from when Spencer and Tyler were in 4th grade!
#9. School Pictures! Didn't they turn out cute???
#10. 100th birthday party! My grandpa Jensen turns 100 on November 18th. He's still doing awesome, living at his home and entertaining his two girlfriends. All of my siblings drove or flew into town for the big party, and it was a lot of fun. We ate at Tony's Pizza, Farr's Ice-Cream, and we even convinced the nice man living in our old childhood home to let us all come see the inside. It was the best!!
#11. Veteran's Day! The kids' schools really go all out for Veteran's Day down here. Tyler had to be to school at 6:30am to help prepare and serve food for the middle school parent veterans. He was adorable in his chef's hat! Spencer went with his choir to the other middle school to sing for their Veteran's Day assembly, and Ella sang in her school's assembly. Bryan ran back and forth from school to school, so that he could be there for the kids.
