Not many vacations are as BUSY as our trips to Idaho are. We cram every morning, afternoon, and evening full of activities and outings, because we know the time will go by so fast. And since we make new traditions each year, our list of desired activities gets longer and longer. Here is a sampling of some of the classics: Playing in the water at Settler's Park; hitting Meridian Lanes for bowling, fake playing of arcade games, and candy machines; evening runs to Fanci Freeze for ice-cream; little kids playing for hours and hours in the Discovery Center pretend grocery store; and a favorite of all ages...floating the Boise River!!!!
We really debated
whether or not we should attempt to float the river this year. We've
taken a year or two off, mostly due to babies. But this year we decided
to throw it back in the rotation. It was really fun this year! The kids are all a
little older and more capable and a little less likely to bawl when they
get splashed in the face. We had four boats
going down (that mostly held air), lots of gummy bears, plenty of COLD
water, and really nice weather. A couple highlights: Kyle dunking
Spencer all the way under (the look on Spencer's face was awesome),
Masen spending most of the trip with his boat in the trees and Tyler and
Dallen bailing him out while trying to protect Masen's phone that he
refused to leave behind, Brian guiding our boat from the front with
his legs completely numb from being submerged the entire trip, Masen's
lovely singing (his creative version of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance), and Kyle and Mary's boat with Aubrey and Ella being the
pirates and the "fastest ship in the seven seas!" SO fun!
