Mother's Day

I arrived home from my girls' trip to LA on Mother's Day.  It makes for the best Mother's Day, I tell ya.  Four days of fun, laughing, having a break from life, and then arriving home to happy kids (who've missed me!) and who I've missed as well!  And the best husband, who has been cooking and baking away, on an amazing Mother's Day feast.  I was first greeted by this awesome sign on the garage door, which was from "only" Tyler.  Guess he didn't want to have to share the credit!  Then the girls had gift bags full of little presents (usually toys and play-jewelry from upstairs) and artwork for me.  Spencer usually concocts some sort of crazy non-gift, that occasionally involves a hunt or a song or skit of some sort.  And always ends with a nice (brief!) note and stick figure drawing.  Tyler always pours his heart into a thoughtful note and picture, and usually a school-made project of some kind.  Whatever the kids think of, I always love getting their little gifts and cards.  And excuse the hat in all the pictures.  The morning started with a very early flight, no time for hair combing, and the hat wouldn't fit in my carry on.  So it was either "hat" or "hat head" for these pics.  Anyway, I'll get to the cake that Bryan baked for me.  It was a FOUR layer chocolate chip cake, with homemade chocolate sour cream frosting.  Amazing!!  There were 4 cubes of butter in the frosting alone!!!  No wonder it was so good.  It was a wonderful Mother's Day!
