Spencer's Busy Spring

We've had a busy Spring! And Spencer was no exception.  Aside from the usual school busy-ness, he's been involved in several extra activities.  First, he went on a weekend backpacking trip with Bryan and the Scouts.  Next, he had a part in the school play (a Greek God), which was hilarious.  It will probably be his last acting gig, since he has decided not to do theater in high school.  We've enjoyed watching him these past couple of years!  Next up he sang in the Spring choir concert, where his choir sang a surprise performance of "You Don't Know You're Beautiful," complete with dance moves.  It was awesome!  The middle school girls were all screaming, and it was really fun.  And then, at the conclusion of the concert and awards, Spencer was awarded the "Conductors Award,"  which was the big award of the night!!  The choir teacher presented this award to the two students whom she described as "the best of the best."  He was completely caught off guard and surprised, and we were so so happy for him and proud of him.  I was able to take a picture of the speech that was read when he was awarded the plaque, and I've copied it below.  So cool!!  To finish off the school year, Spencer sang in a Broadway themed Voice Recital, where he sang "Stars" from Les Miserables.  One of my favorites!!  He nailed it, too!  Then he received a parting certificate from the middle school principal, at the 8th grade awards ceremony.  The biggest event of the year for Spencer, however, was getting his braces off on the day before the last day of school.  Doesn't he look great??
